Ajanta Cave 1 Painting. This section is from a large panel showing a large number of human figures...The Buddhist caves at Ajanta are numbered 1 to 29 and arranged in a large horseshoe pattern along the river Waghora in central India. They contain some of the oldest known examples of Indian wall painting. Some of the earlier caves date to to second century BC.
